Fall's Beginning

Such a beautiful end to the Summer.

Apple orchards/canning grape jelly & sweet onion and fig jam with the ladies/forts and botanical gardens/one last camping trip by the river/farm dinners/the farm.

This farm season was truly special; I could not have dreamed of a more fun, down to earth group of people to spend a Summer with. It felt so light and natural and real. Honest and good.

On to the next thing for all of us.

I hope everyone has a chance to head into the depths of Fall & Winter with a clear heart and mind.

A few things for Fall ~

- currently re-reading Women Who Run With Wolves (MUST-READ all you ladies!)
& Slouching Towards Bethlehem, a collection of essays by Joan Didion taking place in California in the 60's.

- listening to: Allman Brown, Ancient Light

- go follow: @1924us. His instagram posts are a punch to the gut every time.

Leaving you with a recipe for chili I made for a farm dinner we had a couple weeks ago ~

Sweet Potato Chili
Saute organic beef, garlic, onion, salt and pepper. Add cannelini beans, butter beans, chili beans, kidney beans, crushed tomatoes, sweet potato cut into bite size pieces with skin. Add a large tablespoon of cumin, cayenne pepper, horseradish and a 1/4 cup of brown sugar and let simmer.

"The doors to the world of the Wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door." ~Women Who Run With Wolves, Clarissa Pinkola Estes

Last Day of Summer

Last Day of Summer camping. The five of us hopped in the car after work, picked up all the goods on the way and headed to the River.

Trout and baguette (SO GOOD!)/Whiskey/Setting up camp/All the warm blankets/Coyote tracks the next morning/Sunrise/Making Fall Coffee....
These people - just so good. One of the guys summed it up before we fell asleep for the night....

"Goodnight, thanks for being family good people."

"There are souls that you feel to lean forward to. Like a sun-filled window."
