Waiting

Ready for Spring! Who isn't! Sweaters have been packed away and sandals are waiting for warmer skies. Planning my garden today and enjoying the process. Lots of herbs with the usual suspects - tomatoes, hot peppers, squash and lettuce. Enjoy the week ahead!

What Makes A Home Lived-In?

All the rain we've been getting lately has its way of begging you to stay in a little more, doesn't it? I keep a pretty busy schedule, although I'm a homebody at heart, so I don't mind the drizzle. There's nothing like being comfortable and cozy in your own home. I started thinking about the homes I love being in; all of them have a lived-in quality that can only happen from actually living in your house. So many people use their homes as a dumping ground, a place to sleep, a stopping point as they move on to the next harried schedule item, or as a showcase for the latest color scheme and trend. Boring and um, perfectly boring. The opposite of what our homes should be - welcoming to you and to others. A place where everyone can put their feet up and be themselves, talk about their day, be at ease and renewed. So, what exactly does living in your house mean {to me}? It's spending time in your home doing things you love, {the mundane included}, inviting guests over and showing them appreciation, and filling your home with photographs, finds, and art and surrounding yourself with personal touches that make it comfortable and inviting.

What makes a home lived-in to you?

Collecting Props

I started gathering props for a photo shoot next weekend & many of them are coming from my house. I have a few other things to find, like brass candle stick holders, and I will be renting a couple of things as well. I like to bring everything together and see if it's really going to look the way I envision it. So far, I love it! A few neutrals since our background is going to be the outdoors (it's pretty dead out there!) with pops of jewel tones in gold, mustard yellow, emeral green, purple and red. The chair in the background is coming with us, too! I will post pictures after the shoot so you can see how it all comes together.
